Podróż przez boczną ścieżkę rzeczywistości wojennej, poprzez losy wielu istot, na których wojna odcisnęła swoje niszczycielskie piętno.

Praca „ONI/ONE (ВОНИ)” powstawała we współpracy z Fundacją WRO ART Center we Wrocławiu ( https://wro2025.wrocenter.pl/ ) oraz podczas rezydencji artystycznej w Centrum Sztuki „Fabryka Dżemu” ( https://jamfactory.ua/ ) we Lwowie w Ukrainie w 2024.
Wielokanałowa instalacja wideo, przestrzenny ekran zbudowany do projektu [900 cm x 240 cm], okrągły ekran [średnica 210 cm]. Praca prezentowana podczas 21 Biennale Sztuku Mediów WRO – Qualia.

A journey through the side path of the reality of war, through the fate of many beings on whom war has left its devastating mark.

The work ‘ONI/ONE (ВОНИ)’ was created in collaboration with the WRO ART Center Foundation in Wrocław ( https://wro2025.wrocenter.pl/ ) and during an artistic residency at the Art Center ‘Jam Factory’ ( https://jamfactory.ua/ ) in Lviv, Ukraine, in 2024. Multi-channel video installation, spatial screen built for the project [900 cm x 240 cm], circular screen [210 cm diameter]. Work presented at the 21st WRO Media Art Biennale – Qualia.

W centrum tej pracy umieszczony jest człowiek, gatunek który sam siebie wywyższył, stwarza światy wadliwe, rozbite, niesprawiedliwe. Okaleczony człowiek może jednocześnie reprezentować ofiarę i sprawcę. Najnowsza technologia, która niszczy ciało jednocześnie je odbudowuje – protezuje.

At the center of this work stands the human being – a species that has elevated itself, creating flawed, fractured, and unjust worlds. The mutilated human can simultaneously represent both victim and perpetrator. The latest technology, which destroys the body, also rebuilds it – through prosthetics.

Krok za krokiem podążamy w nieznane, żaden krok nie przybliża nas do niczego, nie ma nadziei na odwrócenie tego co już się wydarzyło.

Step by step, we move into the unknown; no step brings us closer to anything, and there is no hope of reversing what has already happened.

Wojna dotyczy wszystkich: ludzi i zwierząt – domowych i dzikich, roślin oraz całych ekosystemów. Dlatego w pracy ВОНИ nie mogło zabraknąć przedstawicieli wojennej emigracji zwierząt. W Ukrainie miejskie lub prywatne schroniska dla zwierząt przystosowane do lokalnych gatunków zamieniły się w miejsca wypełnione menażerią złożoną z uchodźców i uciekinierów z terenów objętych lub zagrożonych walkami.

War affects everyone: people and animals – both domestic and wild – plants and entire ecosystems. That’s why the work ВОНИ (THEY) could not omit the representatives of wartime animal migration. In Ukraine, urban or private animal shelters, adapted initially for local species, have turned into spaces filled with a menagerie of refugees and escapees from areas affected by or threatened with conflict.

Migranci reprezentują wszystkie kontynenty i kraje, pochodzą z wszystkich klas i kast zwierzęcej społeczności. Dzikie, zdziczałe, w traumie po ostrzale i pożarach, ranne, niewolnicy prywatnych zoo i cyrków, półdzikie od niedawna na ulicy, ukochane domowe w szoku utraty bezpiecznego świata, wyrzucone lub zagubione. We Lwowie obok siebie spędzają czas pelikany, bociany, kury, kaczki, nutrie i piżmaki, kruki, sowy, małpy kilku gatunków, orzeł, owca i kozioł urodzony już na miejscu z mamy uciekinierki ze wschodu. Psy z Charkowszczyzny, Donbasu i Chersonia, koty z Charkowa.

These migrants represent all continents and countries and come from every class and caste of the animal kingdom: wild, feral, traumatized by shelling and fire, injured, slaves of private zoos and circuses, semi-wild animals recently living on the streets, beloved pets shocked by the loss of their safe world – abandoned or lost.In Lviv, pelicans, storks, chickens, ducks, nutrias and muskrats, ravens, owls, several species of monkeys, an eagle, a sheep, and a goat born locally to a mother who escaped from the east now spend their time side by side – dogs from Kharkiv, Donbas, and Kherson, cats from Kharkiv.

W całej Ukrainie działają schroniska, a podczas wojny stały się często jedyną ostoją, obozami ostatniej nadziei. Oprócz schronisk działały i powstają nowe Sanktuaria dla dzikich zwierząt jak niedźwiedzie i wilki. Drapieżne koty jak lwy, pumy, oceloty rozjeżdżają się po całej Europie.

In addition to shelters, sanctuaries for wild animals like bears and wolves have been established and continue to be created. Predatory cats such as lions, pumas, and ocelots are being relocated across Europe.

Zwierzęcych emigrantów zarejestrowałem w Schronisku uratowanych zwierząt „Domivka” we Lwowie ( https://www.domivka.org.ua/ ) oraz Niedźwiedzim Sanktuarium w Domażyr ( https://www.bearsanctuary-domazhyr.org/ ). Część pracy w której występuje weteran wojenny – w Centrum Medycznym Superhumans Center w Winnikach ( https://superhumans.com/ ).

I documented these animal refugees at the “Domivka” Shelter for Rescued Animals in Lviv ( https://www.domivka.org.ua/ ) and the Bear Sanctuary in Domazhyr ( https://www.bearsanctuary-domazhyr.org/ ). Part of a job featuring a war veteran – at the Superhumans- Medical Centre in Wynnyky ( https://superhumans.com/ )
